Something more than nothing

It's been a while since I posted last. Last night we had Rodger & Anita, Beth and Nathan, and Brain,Colten and Nathan D. over to watch Bomber game. Great Game, with the exception to our kicker, "Serta miss". Almost costed us the game. Today Aaryn and Adison are out filming the job project. Great job Randy! It will be awesome seeing what a group of people can accomplish for God, after this production is done. I'm working in Aaryn's room today, and probably some bale hauling later. Jayms and Nathan are playing down stairs. Gaylene is on the phone like always. On her day off it's time to catch up on all the people she needs to catch up with. Something more than nothing, I've got to run.

Make wise live choices

Today you and I may have had to decide? Is this going to be my last day? It's a really good feeling knowing where I am at.

Mom's heart

Got back from the city today from picking up Gaylene who was with her Mom. Mom had surgery yesterday. They are checking the condition of her heart in preparation for a more serious open heart surgery. Gaylene and her siter in law stayed with Mom at the victoria Inn as she had to be watched for 48 hrs. She seems to be in good shape as she met up with us a Boston Pizza. It was actually a good drive in today as the weather was great and after having our turkeys back in the barn and on schedule again I feel a little more relaxed. Ken and Bevin are still combining and were hoping to finish before Monday's rain. Looks like that won't happen as they have not yet moved to the last field. It's amazing how much it has dried up in the last few weeks, but there are still some pretty wet areas. I watched as Bevin combined through a few wet spots with the back tires of the combine dragging. I feel for farmers who have it a lot worse. Hockey is fast approaching and I have to start thinking about the committment to coaching. It looks like FisherBranch will once again join us, but this time the team will not be as big.(14-15)
I really enjoy working with the kids, but find it very hard to work along side with someone. I feel the need to be completely in charge, or else I back off too much. I think when I lost some of this control towards the end of last season, I backed off too much and lost focus. With the coaches that I might be working with this year, I feel I should be comfortable. I know one thing for sure, and that is our children need to be informed that they are at the rink to learn hockey and we expect them to listen and do what they are told, skill or no skill. I want to be able to teach a simple offensive and a simple defencive system that any player can do well with regardless of their skill level. I've been reading back a bit on my blogging and want to get into some more of what our family is into. I also feel the need to vent and put my thoughts into words when I feel the need. I hope I don't offend anyone here, as I do have concern for many people I rub shoulders with. God is alive and is working in many lives. I love our church were I see many people with their own set of problems, be able to get together and enjoy each others' company. I love watching young kids grow up and take leadership. Guys like Nathan, Jeremy, Kurt and the other Jeremy (Dyck). Neat to see them on stage for praise and worship. Great place to be on Sunday morning when you've had a long hard week. Of course i think it's great to see Aaryn take leadership in youth. Aaryn's going to be 18 this next spring. She wants to be a teacher and plans are underway to go to U of W next fall. And this Nathan guy that she hangs around with, it's been neat getting to know him a bit more. Jayms loves to have his friends over. Him and Nathan Friesen see each other often. He often talks about Klye and Blayze his other good friends. Loves to have them over, or over there. Adison is maturing so quickly it's hard to see him as he was a year ago. He's not sure about hockey this year, being in Midget this year it's going to be a step for him. I think if the right people coach I'm sure he will play.
Have a great night!

Confused

Alright, now some of you will not agree with what I'm saying but that's fine someone will. I came back from our very first Grad meeting. Yes our daughter is graduating next year. Seems like a few years ago when I graduated. Sometimes I wonder if I really did when you look at the responsibilities of Grads today. Anyways, we are in our first grad meeting and a representative from Safe Grad is there giving us the details of how this all works. I looked at the clock on the wall and wondered how long this would take. He began by stating that he assumed this would be a wet Grad party, however he supported a Dry Grad as a alternative. So I started thinking, how much time is he going to allow to discuss a Dry grad? He went over all the responsibilities of parents and security issues that would arise at this Safe Grad. I'm not going to bore you with the details of this, however we consumed 40 minutes discussing the potential of the negative and issues, arising in a Wet Grad Party. Many questions and concerns were addressed, who could be served and how much. After checking with the clock on the wall, I realized this was going to be along meeting since we were going to check out the details of a Dry Grad ????. Well this gentleman completed his thing, and we said our thanks and he left. Some discussion followed and Gaylene asked the Grads to consider having a Dry Grad. Not to many responses besides a few chuckles. Not being satisfied with the alternative being at least addressed, I stated that since we had used up 40 minutes discussing how to run a "Safe" Wet grad, that we at least come up with a few reasons why we wanted one. I can respect a decision made if both options are looked at, and we have come up with a few pros and cons. No responses were made by the Grads, but I took note of the two from adults. Here this. The first response was that "my friends might not come if there is no alcohol". Give me a break! If my friends felt like that I'd tell them to stay home. The other response was that it tastes good. Let's talk about that. We are using up 40 minutes of time going through the responsibilities of how to keep our kids "Safe" from a tragic accident if they over drank. Is the taste really worth the safety of your children. Have you noticed lately all the positive and great success stories in the news about people consuming alcohol? Your right! there are none! We have minors at this Grad party, are we not having a party together and if we are then why would we want to exclude the minors from drinking. It's the parents responsibility to keep their children safe. Go drinking on your own time with your kids if taste is so important. Bottom line is this. If we can not at least come up with one reason why we want alcohol so bad, why then do we participate in all the "crap" associated with drinking. Our Grads need are support for the future not 40 minutes of how to stay "Safe" at a Drinking Party. Keep it at home. In conclusion, this is not a "Religious" issue. Although it might be for the supporters of a Wet Grad, who feel we need to drink religiously.

sports update-Bombers loose!

Today was a great day as we had Eileen and Waldon over for lunch along with Pat and Jonathon, and my mother. We watched the Bomber game that did not finish very well. Man this is getting kind of hard remain positive. Good thing Bombers are in the East along with some other not so good teams. In evening we went to listen to Rick and Bebe Svenddal minister to us. Great challenge for us. I will write about some of this on a later date as it's getting late and I'm kind of blank. We sat in our hot tub for about a hour watching the stars on a cool clear night, Adison,Jayms, Aaryn and Nathan. This will be a really good investment as I can see some really good conversations and family time. The Title of this posting is sports update. Go to tsn.com. Too lazy to change title. Your probally wondering what the picture is all about. I find it easier to relay my thoughts using images so you can feel what I feel when I think about how fast time is passing us by! Praise God that no matter how old we feel or are, and how little we sometimes feel we've done, God can replace all that down time in our lives with some amazing plan for our future.

Back to School

Found this cool picture! Enjoy!
Gaylene is off to school today and the kids go tommorow. Summer has gone by kind of fast but now that school has started normal schedules can prevail over normal teens' and childrens' schedules that force us old people to pin up our eyelids for most of the summer.
Since it's a little to wet to be out on the fields, barn cleaning along with growing two young flocks and one flock still in production keeps us all busy. This evening Gaylene and I are going to the city to look at a hot tub rental unit we are looking to purchase. This hopefully will fit into our sunroom so we can enjoy a little more time in the great outdoors. We promised Aaryn we'd rent a tub for her baptism week, but decided that since we were already looking at buying we'd save the rental. I'm so proud of my daughter who has shown a lot of growth this summer. Actually all our kids are probally the best kids anyone could have. There might be a few arguments over that. God has blessed us lots. Adison is showing responsibilty and has respect and a soft heart for his friends. It's so important to have God in the center of our lives. Some people say the God is their 'co-pilot', but I would suggest that these people change seats. It's so easy to say the God walks with me, but should we not walk with God? We've been teaching our kids that it is easier to walk along with someone than to have someone walk with them. Jayms is our youngest but man does he try to compete for the oldest. He learned alot about life this summer. His really good friend lost his sister and when that happened there was a time that even in his young age he began to understand the importance of keeping himself with God.
To our church family and our pastor couple, we are praying for you!
